RF1 Mechanically coupled relays
The specificity of mechanically linked relays (force-guided relays or mechanically linked relays) lies in their mechanism, where all contacts are physically connected to each other through a mechanical link. This ensures that if one contact is left in the open position (e.g. in the event of a fault), all the other contacts cannot move to the opposite position.
Principal features:
- Safety assurance: used particularly in safety-critical applications such as machine safety systems to prevent electrical and mechanical failures.
- Mandatory synchronisation: when one contact opens or closes, all other contacts are securely synchronised.
- Compliance with safety standards: comply with international safety standards (e.g. EN 50205), which makes them suitable for PLe or SIL3 level safety circuits.
- Fault detection: in the event of a fault in the relays, the safety system can quickly detect it, as the misalignment of the contacts is immediately visible.
